One shape that locks to itself

Each piece is a hexagonal pillar with a tongue and groove, so pillars lock together into a pattern that can keep growing in any direction. Pillars can be made to any length, which lets the same piece become a dock, a floating platform or the frame of a home.

The pillars are designed around GFRP (glass fiber reinforced polymer), a material with roughly twice the tensile strength of steel rebar at about one quarter of the weight, with a large share of recycled plastic in the mix, plus UV protection, hardeners and antimicrobials so they can handle sun and salt water.

First builds

Docks

Floating docks that carry more weight than most floating options today.

Platforms

Larger floating platforms built from the same pillar.

Homes

A simple home frame on land or water.

We are not taking orders or payments. We want to know who wants which build, and where, so the first ones get built with the right people.

HIP System questions

What is the HIP System?

The HIP System (Hexagonal Interlocking Pillars) is a patent-pending building system from New Atlantis Developments for docks, platforms and homes. Each piece is a hexagonal pillar with a tongue and groove, so the pillars lock together.

What can be built with the HIP System?

The first builds are floating docks, larger floating platforms and a simple home frame on land or water. Pillars can be made to any length, so the same piece works for each.

What are HIP pillars made of?

HIP pillars are designed around GFRP (glass fiber reinforced polymer), a material with roughly twice the tensile strength of steel rebar at about one quarter of the weight. The mix also uses a large share of recycled plastic, plus UV protection, hardeners and antimicrobials so the pillars can handle sun and salt water.

Is the HIP System twice as strong as steel?

That figure describes the GFRP material, not tested HIP pillars. GFRP has roughly twice the tensile strength of steel rebar at about one quarter of the weight, and HIP pillars are designed around it.

What stage is the HIP System at?

The HIP System is at an early stage: it is patent pending and an initial miniature prototype has been funded. New Atlantis Developments is gathering the first people who want to build with it.

Can I order HIP pillars now?

No. New Atlantis Developments is not taking orders or payments yet. There is an interest list for people who want to be part of the first builds.

Is the HIP System an investment opportunity?

No. The interest list is for future builds and is not an offer of securities or an investment. No payment is taken.

How do I join the HIP interest list?

Fill in the form on newatlantisdevelopments.com/hip with your first name and email, and say what you would build and where. Jedidiah Hill will write when there is something real to show.

Rebuild the person first. Then build something worth belonging to.
